  Modern Greek was introduced in 1926. Degrees in Modern Greek have been awarded since 1985. Apart from the language courses, courses on the history of Greek language and culture are offered. Students also acquire translation skills.
  A rich library of about 8,000 volumes is available. The Department publishes the journal Aerides.
