Institutions and Programs available for the teaching of Modern Greek to adults 

Hellenic-American Union – Modern Greek Language Program

In brief: The Hellenic-American Union began its programs in teaching Greek as a second/foreign language in 1957. At least 800 students from all over the world study in the HAU’s Modern Greek language program. Applicants may enroll in the program online, and they even have the option of taking a Greek language proficiency test online to determine their placement in the appropriate level course.

Target group: Adult foreigners from all over the world who are interested in learning Greek or improving their Greek.

Courses of study: Classes are offered at all levels of proficiency:

  • a) beginning,
  • b) intermediate I, II and III, and
  • c) advanced I, II and III.

Graduates of levels b) and c) have the option of participating in the examinations for the Centre for the Greek Language’s Certificate of Attainment in Modern Greek at levels B, C, and D, respectively.
