Institutions and Programs available for the teaching of Modern Greek to adults
The Athens Centre. “Ελληνικός Πολιτισμός”
In brief: The Athens Centre - Ελληνικός Πολιτισμός is a private organization funded by a team of scholars and artists with the goal of operating educational programs and art activities for university students and adults of all nationalities. It has been functioning since 1969, and its activities include the Modern Greek Program. The Program includes courses at all levels and admits an average of 600 students annually, coming from all over the world.
Target group: Adult foreigners from all over the world.
Course of study: Courses operate at all levels throughout the year. Students may choose among courses lasting 3 to 10 weeks, meeting 2 to 5 times per week, depending on intensity of instruction.
Apart from the general courses in Modern Greek, the Centre also offers specialized classes in:
- a) business Greek,
- b) Greek culture,
- c) poetry, and
- d) introduction to Ancient Greek.
The summer courses take place every year in Spetses and last three weeks.
