Institutions and Programs available for the teaching of Modern Greek to adults

National and Kapodistrian University of Athens

Modern Greek Language Teaching Center

In brief: The teaching of Modern Greek as a foreign language at the University of Athens was instituted in the 1950s and continues today, along with the teaching of foreign languages, within the framework of courses and events offered by the Teaching Center. In 1991, the Interdepartmental Program of Modern Greek as a Foreign Language was founded under the scholarly supervision of the Section of Linguistics in the Department of Philology. In 1994, an Interdepartmental Graduate Program was instituted in the teaching of Modern Greek as a Foreign Language. The ever-increasing demand for learning Modern Greek over the past decade led to the founding of an independent Teaching Center under the Interdepartmental Program in 1994.
