    The Department of Classical Philology was founded in 1874. A Chair for Latin Philology, one for Greek Language and Philology and one for Croatian-Latin Philology have been established. About 70 students per year are enrolled in the Department. A library of 13,000 volumes is available. A Lectorate for Modern Greek was established in 1998.
    The Department organizes conferences and meetings on a regular basis. It publishes the journals Nuncius and Latina et Graeca.
    Responsible for Modern Greek: Xanthi Zafeiraki. Other faculty members: Marina Bricko and Nino Zubovic (Ancient Greek).
