Introductory Note

This Guide endeavors to provide the electronic improvement and significant enhancement of a database containing Modern Greek translations of Ancient Greek literature (developed in a pilot form within the framework of the "Electronic Komvos").

Initially, it is planned to encompass the six genres of Ancient Greek (epic, lyric and dramatic poetry, historiography, philosophy, and rhetoric), from the first translations of Ancient Greek since the Byzantine period.

Each reference, apart from bibliographical data and publication details, provides translation samples as well as the theoretical principles of the translator. Thus, those interested may become familiar with the existing translations of a work in Ancient Greek, as well as obtain details about the type of each translation and the language used.

The search for the bibliographic references works on the basis of: the literary genre/type of ancient work, the author’s name and the title of his work, the translator’s name, the language of the translation, and the manner and date of the translation.

The content of this section is available only in the Greek version.
