In morphology the character is the last letter of the stem. The stem is formed by the root of the word plus a suffix. In Greek the character is of significance in verbs because with the character of the past tense (which is usually – σ) we form the synoptic tenses, while with the character of the present we form the continuous/progressive tenses.

The waving of one or both hands by a speaker in order to supplement what he/she says and to show direction, to describe a movement or to express something else.
